Produce prices set to soar!

Posted on February 9, 2011

Produce prices set to soar locally as an aftermath from the recent Queensland flood crisis.

The owner Angus Gunawan of Panetta Fruits at Macquarie Shopping Centre said much of the produce is water damaged along with a problem of supply will force the price up.

Rene Thomas, a local resident of Sydney’s North West said her main concern is retailers who increase costs under the banner of the floods where it is not warranted.

There is an expectation from both retail suppliers and consumers of the increase in price, yet an understanding the market must stay competitive.
